ACTIVITIES - EXCURSIONS SPRING / SUMMER
Since spring and especially in summer, Lorica offers a natural environment where the air is rich in aromas, essences and perfumes, freed from the microbial charge of the plains, "richly oxygenated for the huge photosynthetic work carried out by an immense arboreal mass perennially green, which constitutes the specific dowry of the Sila ". In the area there are also included numerous WWF nature trails that offer the possibility of endless walks through the Sila woods and numerous riding stables for lovers of horseback excursions.
Another natural resource that enriches the magnificent landscape is Lake Arvo, which offers, in addition to its picturesque beauties, also numerous other services, including boat rental, canoeing and windsurfing, as well as a rich catchment area for fishing enthusiasts. sporty. The importance of the basin at the sporting level is confirmed by professional rowing: on the Arvo there are national and international competitions and training of the Italian canoe / kayak team.
They are available to tourists, a minigolf course, one for clay pigeon shooting, a red clay tennis court, bowling alleys, a soccer field and two football fields, approved by CONI and suitable to host the teams' retreats. amateurs and professionals.

WHAT TO DO
There are many paths for trekking lovers, but also for a simple walk. You can decide to go it alone (the paths are marked and the duration, KM and degree of difficulty are indicated) or you can use an authorized guide (the Register of guides is on the site of the National Park of Sila ).

Boat trip on the Arvo lake

Cross of Magara
Visit to the Fallistro Nature Reserve, at an altitude of 1420 meters, in a strip of pine forest where the trees, called "The Giants" reach over 450 years of age, reaching 45 meters in height and diameters up to two meters. Access to the Reserve is allowed only on foot, along a path equipped with walkways and fenced tracks.

ACTIVITIES - AUTUMN / WINTER EXCURSIONS
Autumn is the period of "festivals": each municipality stands out for its "own" party, characterized by a really strong love towards what is offered to the tourist and to the neighbor.
For nature lovers, then, to witness the phenomenon of "foliage" can not leave indifferent: it is the spontaneous phenomenon for which some species of trees change the color of their leaves, from green to yellow, orange, red and brown to plum and violet. The woods of the Sila, already from the first days of October, explode in extraordinary and fairytale colors.
In the winter period the snow sometimes falls before Christmas, but it is in February that the Sila is totally covered in white and a breathtaking spectacle is offered to the visitor's gaze stretched out by any peak on the plateau. The white coniferous forests show a landscape with purely Nordic features, softened and beneficially influenced by the proximity of the Mediterranean sea.
To qualify the place for winter tourism are above all the numerous hotels that have a receptivity, able to satisfy the needs of the varied clientele. In the area there are efficient ski lifts built with modern infrastructure.

The thrill of spinning light on the soft snow, in a suggestive scenery, driven by the wonderful husky dogs, on apparently fragile but extraordinarily resistant sleds. The Sila National Park hosts in February the "Dogs on the snow" event, the crossing with sled dogs that brings international champions of the discipline every year on the Calabrian plateau.
