Group Tour “Calabria between taste and culture” (6 days/5 nights)
Cuisine and history blend to guide us to discover Calabria ’s definite and strong flavor. Liquirizia, wine, bread and oil are only some of the excellent products that we are going to touch. We are going to immerse into the old wine cellars and mills like in old times to touch the roots of the people who had been mingled for centuries.

Day one: LAMEZIA TERME
Arrival at the airport of Lamezia. Transfer by bus to the hotel near Crotone. Welcome dinner, overnight.
Day Two: ROSSANO – CORIGLIANO
Breakfast and leave for Rossano Calabro. It is the capital of the byzantine possessions in the 10th century, and it is one of the most important urban centers of Calabria. Visit to the Santa Maria Cathedral “Archiropita”, known for the famous “Madonna with Jesus in her arms” which was explored on one of the walls of the cathedral by accident during its restoration (8th century), and the Diocesano Museum (and the Codex Purpureus rossaneusis kept inside of it).
Then an exclusive visit to the Amarelli (Liquirizia) museum and factory. Lunch in a restaurant. In the afternoon visit to Corigliano Calabro to admire the majestic Ducal Castle. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day Three: CROTONE – CAPO COLONNA – LE CASTELLA
Breakfast at the hotel. Leave for Crotone. Visit to the Charles V Castel and the Civic Museum where in the center you can have a free walk. Transfer to Capo Colonna. Guide to the Archeologic Park and the area where you can find the Column of the Hera Lacinia doric temple.Transfer to Isola Capo Rizzuto. Free walk in striking streets full of local souvenir shops. Lunch paid by the participants. Visit to the characteristic seaside village known for the striking islet and the antique Castle Aragonese unitied to the land by a strip of land. Before going back to the hotel wine tasting in a local wine cellar. Back to the hotel.
Day Four: SQUILLACE – SAN FLORO – BADOLATO
Breakfast and check-out. Following route 106 in direction to Reggio Calabria, the first stop is at the Archeological Park in Roccelletta di Borgia, 35 hectars absorbed by olive trees where the remains of the greek and roman civilisation are hidden. Leave for San Floro where we are going to visit a cottage, the seat of the San Floro Mill, where like 100 years ago only renewable energy is being used. Tasting lunch based on flour products “just like once”. Then leave for Badolato Superiore. Badolato is a medieval town with bysantine roots constructed on a hill, is also famous for its 12 churches, which for their lateral positions seem to defend the town from a siege. Walking in this town is quite surreal within its strict and curvy streets that lead to the Immaculate Church where the landscape suddenly opens up to leave space for nature and the beauty of this construcyion. It ’s a community that has been recognized in all over the world. Back to the hotel in the evening.
Day Five: GERACE E LOCRI
Breakfast at the hotel and leave for Gerace, the city of “Hundred Churches”. Arrival to the centre by the picturesque touristic train and visit to the famous cathedral and inside the diocesan museum. Walking through the streets to discover the artistic worksops that characterize the small town. Visit to the oil mill where it is possible to taste and buy jams produced by the company. Free lunch in a farmhouse and then transfer to Locri. Visit to an archeological site, to a national museum and Antiquarium. Back to the totel, dinner and overnight.
Day Six: LAMEZIA TERME
Departure. Breakfast at the hotel, check-out. Transfer to the airport.
